Operational Details

Ski Arpa operates in true alpine backcountry terrain. The information below outlines important operational guidelines to ensure a safe and seamless experience for all guests.

  1. Reservations & Operations

Reservation Policy

  • Ski Arpa operates by reservation only.

  • A minimum of 3 guests is required to operate a snowcat day.

Booking & Payment

  • All pricing is in USD.

  • Chilean peso payments are calculated using the official exchange rate on the day of service.

  • A non-refundable $50 booking fee applies.

  1. Weather & Refund Policy

Ski Arpa operates in high alpine terrain where conditions can change rapidly.

Weather Closures

If we are unable to operate due to weather:

  • Option A: 85% refund

  • Option B: Reschedule to next available day

If operations are interrupted due to mechanical reasons, refunds are provided proportionally based on missed runs.

  1. Arrival & Schedule

Arrival Time

  • Please arrive by 9:30 AM.

  • First snowcat departure: 10:15 AM.

  • Guests arriving after 10:30 AM will be considered a no-show.

Estimated Travel Times (good road conditions)

  • Los Andes / San Esteban: 1 hour

  • Santiago: 2h 15m

  • Portillo: 2h 30m

  • SCL Airport: 2h 15m (flights after 8 PM recommended)

A 4×4 vehicle is recommended for mountain access.

  1. On the Mountain

All descents are guided.

  • Guests must follow guide instructions at all times.

  • Guides may divide groups based on skiing ability.

  • Typical guide ratio: approximately 1 guide per 6 guests.

  • The ski day typically concludes at 3:00 PM at Refugio Avalancha.

    Failure to follow guide instructions may result in removal from the mountain without refund.

  1. Equipment Requirements

Mandatory

  • Ski boots (guests must bring their own).

  • Avalanche beacon (provided if needed).

Safety Equipment Provided

  • Avalanche beacon

  • BCA airbag backpack

  • Safety briefing before departure

Guests are responsible for any lost or damaged safety equipment (replacement fee applies).

  1. Food & Facilities

  • Lunch is not included unless part of a package.

  • Snacks and beverages are available for purchase at Refugio Avalancha.

  • Guests may leave backpacks on the snowcat during runs.

  • Tap water is sourced from a mountain spring and is not treated. Bottled water is available for purchase.

  1. Age & Liability

  • All guests must sign a release form onsite.

  • Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Parents must sign a special waiver for minors.

  1. Accommodation & Transfers

Accommodation and private transfers can be arranged upon request through our trusted partners.
